Doing the right things, embracing the word 'no', and revealing our true selves.

MONTHLY REMINDER

Remember Reader, you can do ANYTHING. You can do MANY THINGS. But, you cannot do EVERYTHING.

REFLECTION PROMPTS:

  • What do I value most?
  • What/ who is truly important to me now?
  • What directions am I stretching myself in?
  • What will I eliminate?
  • What single focus will give me the most leverage?

OCTOBER'S REFLECTION PROMPTS

In October, I will say 'yes' when…

In October, I will say 'no' when…

Every 'yes' is a 'no' to something else, and vice versa. When we say 'yes' from a place of obligation or people-pleasing, the person we end up saying 'no' to is ourself.

2 QUOTES WORTH PONDERING

1. American writer, James Baldwin on vulnerability:

"In order to have a conversation with someone, you must reveal yourself."

REFLECTION PROMPTS:

  • What conversations did I never have? What stopped me?
  • What conversation do I need to have? What's stopping me?
  • When was the last time I had a bared, unvarnished conversation?
  • What parts of myself am I trying to protect?

2. Author and poet, Dr. Jaiya John on how nature models resilience:

"The arrogance of grass to keep growing after it has been cut down a thousand times. Thank you, teacher."

REFLECTION PROMPTS:

  • When and how have I demonstrated resilience?
  • What's kept me persevering through my trials and tribulations?
  • What three things have I learnt about myself and life from each rise and fall?
